Media / Journalist Visa advisory
All foreign journalists, regardless of whether they are travelling to India for tourism or work, have to apply for a 'J' (Journalist) visa. Journalist visas are given to professional journalists and photographers for up to three months' stay in India. Therefore, all Journalists, Editors/Writers of Television networks and Radio Stations travelling to India on work or vacation are required to apply for a 'J' visa at the Indian Embassy/High Commission/Consulate abroad, along with a copy of their Media Accreditation Card and/or a document from their organization describing clearly the nature of their work and whether they are travelling to India on work or as tourist. J Visa application may be submitted 3-4 weeks before the date of departure for India.
To facilitate customs clearance of media-related equipment at the port of arrival in India, signed list of equipment along with make, serial numbers and approximate cost may be e-mailed to:firstname.lastname@example.org along with name, copy of passport, telephone number/mobile number/e-mail ID, and air ticket/flight details with port of entry in India.
Media persons interested in attending PBD 2017 will first register through the website under media category. The PBD Secretariat will then verify the credentials of the registered media person, including for media persons based in India. This process will take some time. Participation of media person in PBD 2017 will be subject to completion of verification process which will be conveyed through a verification email. For receiving media badge at the PBD venue, the media person will have to produce a copy of verification email along with delegate registration receipt.
